A tough day all round for value hunters with plenty of small-field 3yo only races across the board. Although those races can offer great value, there’s nothing that stands out, with the notable exception of NOBLEMAN 8/1 (2.10 Haydock) one worth watching in the very least. Apart from that we have just the two previews for tomorrow.

FLORENCIO is the selection in this one. Although he’s been out of form since his win at Kempton earlier this year, this looks like a good opportunity for him to return to some kind of winning form. He’s got the best distance strike rate from the line up and isn’t given an impossible assignment either. Roger Fell sends out his horses in good shape and his yard have been having a good season so far. Although there are dangers aplenty in this line up and there could well be NR’s which affect the place possibilities, overall at this price, it is worth taking a chance that the selection resumes his positive ways and runs this one close.

I don’t ‘do’ NAPs because of the unrealistic expectation that this erroneously puts onto a single selection. That said, in my opinion in terms of value-to-chance, the selection in this one would rate amongst one of the best I’ve ever put up. SWIFT EMPEROR has got a good record in Class 3 races and went very close over C&D from the same weight last year, only being beaten by a shoulder. Back down to that weight and with conditions looking like they are going to suit well, there’s an obvious value play for the selection in this one. KHARBETATION will no doubt be warm in the market, but this horse has got form for refusal, so it wouldn’t surprise if there were some kind of drama regarding this one. For that reason alone, he’s left well alone – even from a value perspective.
